The new Speaker of the US House of Representatives calls accountability the primary condition for Ukrainian aid.
“We want accountability, and we want objectives that are clear from the White House. But we’re going to have those discussions. It will be very productive,” Mike Johnson said. He clarified that the House of Representatives is working on this issue, but they “will have certain conditions”.
Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, responded to Johnson’s words, stressing that Ukraine would gladly report to the US on its use of aid. The NSDC expressed confidence that Ukraine will continue to receive assistance from the US in its fight against Russian aggression.
“The speaker said they want to check the aid – this is normal to ask. We are happy to provide all information about the aid, and there are no secrets. This will not affect receiving it in any way,” said Danilov.
He added Ukraine keeps records of all weapons it receives from partners and shares this information with them.
