The new PM of Poland promises to unblock the border with Ukraine and announces the shifting of the Hungarian government toward Russia’s position.

The new head of the Polish government, Donald Tusk, criticized the current government’s actions and said that he will immediately correct the problem of blocked cargo transportation at the border with Ukraine. He will officially head the government beginning on December 13 and be able to participate in the EU summit in Brussels.

Regarding the possibility of influencing Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in his position regarding Ukraine, Tusk said that the Hungarian government has openly “switched to Russian positions,” so his opportunities to convince the Hungarian leader are limited.

In this context, the EU is preparing to support Ukraine financially, even if Hungary vetoes it. If Orbán vetoes the €50B aid package, the bloc can allocate a smaller amount for a shorter period, or the other 26 EU countries can expand their national contributions bilaterally in favor of Kyiv.
