The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) believes that establishing a specialized financial court is the right way to provide an independent and effective judiciary in financial disputes, said the chairman of the National Bank, Kyrylo Shevchenko. Today, more than 130,000 lawsuits in Ukraine are reported to be related to the financial sector. This is 25% of all cases. The subject of litigation with borrowers are debts of UAH 144B ($5.14B), UAH 18B with depositors ($640M), and 81M ($2.9M) with investors. The relevant bill to establish the financial court “has already been worked out,” confirmed Shevchenko.
