The Mykolaiv region is repairing storage facilities for long-term storage of fruit and vegetable products.

According to Olena Piskun, director of the Mykolaiv regional administration’s Department of the Agro-Industrial Complex, in the pre-war period 18 storage facilities for long-term storage of vegetables and fruits with a total capacity of 39,400 tons were registered in the region. Most of them (23,900 tons) were built using the latest technologies. According to Piskun, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion some storage facilities have been damaged, and their restoration is underway.

In turn, the head of the PAEK company, one of the largest producers of vegetable products in the Mykolaiv region, Yuriy Kormyshkin, claims that there is a significant shortage of facilities for high-quality storage of fruit and vegetable products across the country.

“Understanding this, we went the way of creating our own storage base. In less than a year, we were able to purchase and rent vegetable storage facilities, warehouses, and refrigerators that will provide over 12,000 tons of simultaneous storage. Currently, the utilization rate of vegetable storage facilities and refrigerators is over 90%,” he added.
