The Ministry of Defense explained where the additional almost ₴500B from the state budget will be allocated.

In a draft law on increasing state budget expenditures in 2024 approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, which the parliament must approve, financial support for the security and defense sector is expected to increase by ₴495.3B ($12B), the Ministry of Defense reports.

As noted, the funds are provided for all law enforcement agencies of Ukraine. In particular, ₴373.7B will be directed to the Ministry of Defense: ₴269.5B for financial support of military personnel and one-time monetary assistance in case of death or disability of defenders of Ukraine, ₴47B for the purchase and modernization of weapons, and ₴4.7B for rear support. Also, ₴40B will go for the construction of fortifications and ₴8.9B for financial support of the State Special Transport Service.

As previously reported, Ukraine finances the defense sector exclusively through taxes and military bonds. State budget expenditures on defense have exceeded ₴730B since the beginning of the year.
