The largest shopping mall in Ukraine and Eastern Europe switches to imported electricity to stabilize its operations.

Against the background of the difficult situation with the country’s energy system, the Respublika Park shopping center switched to using imported electricity. Earlier, the Gulliver shopping center made the same decision in order to ensure the facility’s stable operation and support the energy system, noted the director of Respublika Park, Yuliya Shchaslyva.

The company decided to do so because the new government decree guarantees uninterrupted operation for enterprises that import 80% of their electricity.

Last year, Respublika Park invested more than $1M in the purchase of generators, and every month, hundreds of thousands of hryvnias are spent on their maintenance and fuel.

Meanwhile, one of Ukraine’s leading grocery retailers reported that its operating expenses related to diesel power plants increased by 800% in June compared to April. As a result, Ukraine’s largest grocery chain, ATB, is considering importing electricity and installing electricity storage equipment.
