The ISW highlighted the potential consequences of Ukraine’s strikes on ammunition depots in Russia.

Strikes by Ukrainian forces against targets on Russian territory may affect Russia’s entire offensive operations in Ukraine, the ISW noted, after recent strikes on a warehouse containing Shahed drones in the Krasnodar region and in the Republic of Adygea.

“Russian forces rely on Shahed drones to strike both front-line and rear-line Ukrainian settlements and cities and expend about 10,000 artillery shells per day on front-line Ukrainian positions,” the summary says.

In September and October, the Ukrainian army attacked ammunition and missile depots, destroying dozens of ammunition storage buildings, railroad cars, and significant amounts of ammunition, missiles, and drones.

Long-range strikes deep into Russia with Western weapons would allow the Ukrainian army to more effectively exploit such vulnerable places in enemy territory before Moscow is able to resort to countermeasures.

Also, Estonian intelligence noted that Ukrainian strikes on ammunition warehouses will increase “shell hunger” for Russia.
