The International Energy Agency (IEA) suggests that sales of electric vehicles in 2022 may reach a record high. The IEA’s Tracking Clean Energy Progress report says that global sales of electric cars doubled in 2021, accounting for about 9% of the total automotive market. In 2022, sales are expected to reach a new high, accounting for 13% of total passenger car sales. The agency also reported that sales of electric vehicles in 2021 reached 6.6 million. In the first quarter of 2022, the figure was 2 million, an increase of 75% compared to the same period in 2021. If this trend continues, electric vehicle manufacturers can meet the benchmark targets set for 2030 as part of the plan to achieve zero emissions by 2050.
