The heads of five EU states call on the allies to increase military support for Ukraine.
The leaders of Germany, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Estonia, and the Netherlands wrote a joint letter of appeal to Ukraine’s allies and partners, urging them to strengthen their support for Kyiv. The statement says that Ukraine’s will to fight remains and is a source of inspiration for Europe. But problems are brewing amid the protracted conflict, and the current military support commitments are at risk of falling short of Ukraine’s needs.
“Today, it is urgent to provide ammunition and weapons systems, including howitzers, tanks, UAVs, and air defense equipment, which Ukraine badly needs“, the politicians stated.
They also emphasized the importance of hastening the supply of ammunition through the transfer of shells from warehouses in EU member states or through joint procurement.
“This is a matter of our common European security, and for the brave servicemen of Ukraine, it is a matter of life and death,” the letter reads.
