The G7 and Ukraine’s other allies vow to intensify sanctions pressure on Russia if it refuses to agree to a ceasefire.

The G7 countries have warned Russia of new sanctions if it does not halt hostilities with Ukraine. The G7 is preparing a statement that will stress the importance of reliable “security measures” to ensure a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.
“The G7 members urge Russia to reciprocate by committing to a ceasefire on equal terms and fully implementing it,” according to the statement.
Additionally, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer noted that approximately 25 leaders of allied nations have committed to further strengthening sanctions against the Russian economy to compel Putin to negotiate and end the war in Ukraine. At a press conference in London following a virtual meeting with the allies from the coalition of the willing, Starmer indicated that they were entering the “operational phase” of providing security guarantees.
Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that European countries and their allies are “very motivated” to advance toward peace. “Everyone is determined to apply pressure on Russia,” the minister stated.
