The former CEO of Ukrainian Railways has been asked to provide the army with Ukrainian weapons as soon as possible.

The new Minister of Strategic Industries, Oleksandr Kamyshin, must complete the reform of Ukroboronprom and establish weapons production for the military, Deputy Prime Minister Yuliya Svyridenko stressed.

“Ukraine cannot rely exclusively on weapons from our allies. The domestic sector of the defense industry is a priority for the president and the government both now and after the war’s end. In current wars, the one who has more modern weapons wins”, she emphasized.

According to Svyridenko, Kamyshin showed “remarkable leadership qualities” while working at Ukrzaliznytsia and now the same is expected of him at the Ministry of Strategy and Industry.
