The first group of Ukrainian pilots is ready for F-16 training after US approval.
The spokesman of the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Ignat, announced the readiness of Ukrainian pilots. He clarified that these aviators know English and have mastered foreign terminology.
Despite problems with logistics, the allied countries have provided dozens of training sites. The training’s speed will depend on the capacity of the training sites. Technical personnel for aircraft maintenance will also be trained. At the same time, most of the repairs will be carried out by the American company Lockheed Martin.
Jake Sullivan, the national security adviser to the US president, said that the training of Ukrainian F-16 pilots in EU countries will begin in two weeks. Washington will not delay the process of issuing a study permit, as well as transferring everything necessary to begin. Initially reluctant, US President Joe Biden has since given the green light for the training Ukrainian pilots.
