The EU supports the notion of synchronizing sanctions with the US.

The EU is prepared to collaborate with the US to simultaneously impose sanctions on Russia to compel Russian dictator Putin to agree to peace talks, stated European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. She noted that the EU is currently working on its 18th package of Russian sanctions.
“We are primarily interested in sanctions against the energy sector and blocking sources of financing for Russia,” the EC President added.
According to the plan, the new EU sanctions will include restrictions against companies linked to the Nord Stream gas pipelines, as well as a decrease in the maximum price for Russian oil.
However, concerning the 500% tariffs proposed in the US sanctions package, the EU is concerned that its member states may be affected by these restrictions, so it insists on exceptions. This is because some EU countries still import Russian energy resources while providing assistance to Ukraine. The bill’s initiator, Senator Lindsey Graham, has already proposed making the necessary adjustments.
Additionally, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that new stringent German sanctions targeting Russia are expected any day now.
