The EU is discussing the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine outside the EU.

Some EU countries want to buy ammunition for Ukraine outside the bloc (the US and South Korea) if the EU cannot produce enough quickly through its own enterprises, writes Euractiv. The FT also noted that the supply of ammunition might be delayed for three years due to a shortage of explosives. Short supplies of gunpowder, plastic explosives, and TNT have meant that the industry cannot quickly meet the EU’s expected orders for Ukraine, regardless of how much money is invested.

Currently, a member of the European Commission, Thierry Breton, is on a trip to the countries capable of increasing their military production: he has already visited Bulgaria, and later he will go to Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, France, and Romania. On March 20, the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense from the EU member states will agree on plans to supply ammunition to Kyiv.
