The EU industrial base must switch to a military economy regime to continue supporting Ukraine.
As European Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton stated at the EU-Ukraine Defense Industry Forum: “When we started the development of a new European defense industrial strategy, Josep Borrell and I agreed that the unification of the European and Ukrainian defense industry should be a key goal,” he said.
According to him, meeting industrial leaders is the first step, as it brings EU-Ukraine cooperation in the defense sector to a new level.
“I insist that the EU defense industry should switch to a military economy mode so that it can produce faster and more and continue to support Ukraine now and in the long term, no matter what happens,” he added.
Breton stated the need to continue increasing ammunition production capacity within the new European defense-industrial strategy and the new European defense-industrial program in order to increase Europe’s defense readiness and develop cooperation with Ukraine.
