The EU has taken note of Ukraine’s success in the Kursk region; Russia is preparing to liberate its territories.
EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Maternova warns Western experts against criticizing the actions of Ukraine’s military in the Kursk region. At the GLOBSEC Forum 2024 conference, she emphasized that the Armed Forces’s offensive into Russian territory has already delivered tangible results.
These results include a change in the West’s narrative regarding the war, a growth in morale, and the replenishment of the prisoner exchange fund. “It changed the dynamics of the war,” the ambassador added.
Meanwhile, for the first time, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg commented on Ukraine’s operation in the Kursk region and noted that it complies with the right to self-defense. At the same time, ISW analysts said that Russian authorities are already creating new volunteer territorial defense units in response to the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region. This tactic will continue until Russian offensive operations in eastern Ukraine reach their climax – then Putin may consider deploying more combat-ready Russian forces from that direction.
