The European Commission postponed the launch of the ETIAS system until May 2025, under which travelers from visa-free countries, including Ukraine, would have to pay a €7 fee every three years to authorize their trips.
The scheme provides that, after the launch and transition period, the entry of Ukrainians to the EU with a biometric passport will be possible with prior registration (authorization) in the new system. The authorization will cost €7 and be valid for three years, during which travel reregistration is not required.
The EU emphasizes that registration is not an analog of a visa; it is carried out online and will be granted automatically in most cases.
