The EU aims to secure €5B for Ukrainian munitions.

EU officials are developing a strategy to allocate €5B for ammunition, as an agreement on the €40B Ukrainian military aid package remains pending, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas stated in Brussels prior to a European Council meeting on March 20.
“If we cannot reach a decision now for the entire next year regarding the €40B in aid, then let’s focus on the short term, where Ukraine urgently needs ammunition right now,” Kallas remarked.
She expressed that a practical approach would involve €5B for munitions.
“And this is what we are actively working on at the moment,” she emphasized.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, addressing the European Council meeting, remarked: “We require funds for artillery shells, and we would greatly appreciate European support of at least €5B as soon as possible”.
Additionally, he highlighted the need for investments in weapons production in both Ukraine and EU nations.
