The EIB will approve a €250M support package for Ukraine’s energy sector and allocate another €200M to modernize its public transport.
The government of Ukraine and the EIB are working diligently to prepare new agreements for a €250M support package.
“The EIB systematically supports Ukraine in priority area and continues to work on expanding our partnership. The volume of EIB initiatives in the public sector is 26 projects with a volume of €5.3B,” said Minister of Finance Serhii Marchenko.
The volume of joint projects in the public and private sectors is the largest in the history of Ukraine’s cooperation with the EIB and reaches more than €7B. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the volume of investments provided by the EIB in all directions is about €2B. The EIB’s financial support is aimed at ensuring the country’s priority needs, including the restoration of critical infrastructure and the power system.
Also, the EIB will increase its financing of the Kyiv City Electric Transport project from €100 to €300M. The funds will be used until 2029 to purchase and renew trolleybuses and subway cars.
