The EIB Group and Finnvera launch a €30M pilot project to support Finnish exports to Ukraine.

The European Investment Fund, part of the EIB Group, and Finnvera, Finland’s export credit agency, are initiating this pilot program to assist Finnish companies in exporting to Ukraine. The agreement enables Finnvera to offer export credits to Finnish companies trading with Ukraine, backed by the European Investment Fund (EIF) guarantee through the InvestEU export credit guarantee instrument. The project aims to support Finnish businesses with fewer than 500 employees by reducing risk when expanding into the Ukrainian market.

The EIF guarantee complements the national loss-sharing mechanism established by the Finnish Ministry of Economic Affairs, which allows Finnvera to issue export guarantees to Ukraine under exceptional conditions. The InvestEU export credit guarantee facility, a joint effort of the European Commission and the EIB Group, seeks to provide guarantees of up to €300M to help EU small and medium-sized enterprises export goods and services to Ukraine. Launched in July 2024, the program’s services are currently in high demand across EU countries.
