The EC warns of difficult negotiations with Ukraine over grain exports.

European Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski emphasized that since the beginning of the war in Ukraine and the abolition of customs barriers, the EU market has become the largest recipient of Ukrainian food products and raw materials, and the countries neighboring Ukraine have been particularly affected. Wojciechowski provided information indicating that since the beginning of the war, Ukrainian exports to EU countries have increased from €7B to €13B in monetary terms.

“An additional problem is that most of the exports remained in five neighboring countries, including Poland, in the amount of €5B. We must not only monitor this but also sometimes react. Before the war, the main recipients of Ukrainian goods were the markets of Asia and Africa. Currently, Europe receives the most,” said Wojciechowski.

He noted that agriculture will be the subject of difficult negotiations regarding Kyiv’s accession to the EU.
