The EC plans to open all clusters in Ukraine’s EU accession negotiations.

The European Commission is optimistic about the future of membership negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova and hopes to open all six negotiation clusters this year, said Gert Jan Koopman, Head of the EC Directorate-General for Enlargement.
“We have set a calendar for the screening, which will be completed in the autumn. On this basis, the EC will prepare a report to be sent to the EU Council, which will reflect the situation in all six clusters. We aim to achieve significant progress on three clusters during the Polish Presidency of the EU (Fundamentals, Foreign Affairs, Internal Market) and to achieve significant progress on the three remaining clusters during the Danish Presidency,” he noted.
This timetable is very ambitious, but it is precisely such efforts that will help to open all clusters and then envision possible scenarios for the gradual completion of negotiations on each of them in the coming years.
“For cluster 1 (Fundamentals), we have already done our part of the work – we have completed the screening report for the EU Council and are preparing the conditions for opening the negotiation clusters,” said Koopman.
