The coming German government will increase aid and support for Ukraine’s NATO accession.

The signed coalition agreement reached by the upcoming German government states: “Ukraine, as a strong, democratic, and sovereign state that independently determines its future with a Euro-Atlantic perspective, is central to our security. Therefore, we will significantly strengthen and reliably continue our military, civilian, and political support for Ukraine alongside our partners.”
Additionally, Germany plans to collaborate closely with partners to develop a strategy for genuine and sustainable peace, during which Ukraine will operate from a position of strength and on equal footing. This strategy should include “guarantees of the material and political security” of a sovereign Ukraine.
“We endorse the prospect of Ukraine’s accession to NATO, which was confirmed at the NATO summit in Washington. We support the establishment of a special tribunal to properly investigate and hold accountable those responsible for the crime of aggression against Ukraine,” the document states.
The agreement further states that, in coordination with its partners, Germany is exploring ways to utilize Russia’s frozen assets to provide comprehensive assistance to Kyiv.
