If the mechanisms for exporting agricultural products to the EU after the end of the autonomous trade measures (ATM) change, then supplies of Ukrainian wheat to this market may decrease, the grain association reported. Association members hope that Ukraine will export around six million tons to the EU this season. However, if the current mechanisms are not maintained after June 6 2025, farmers will only be able to export one million tons. Then, they will have to look for other markets for the remaining five million tons.
However, even if the European Commission imposes restrictions, the Ukrainian harvest will be sold entirely since the Ministry of Agrarian Policy is actively looking for new markets for grain sales, particularly in Africa. As for other grain crops, farmers are confident that the restrictions will not apply to them.
Corn supplies have already been regulated. Europe imports 20 million tons of corn annually, of which more than half are Ukrainian corn. The experts also believe the EU will not limit purchases of Ukrainian soybeans, meal, and sunflower.
