The Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyy port will be connected by rail to Romania, enhancing the movement of goods from Asia to the EU.

By the end of the year, the port in the Odesa region intends to facilitate the transit of goods from Asia to EU nations. The route from Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyy to Galati covers 320 kilometers in total: 182 kilometers through Ukraine, 129 through Moldova, and nine through Romania. The establishment of this new rail connection is made possible by the comprehensive reconstruction of the Bendery-Bessarabyaska-Etulia-Giurgiulesti railway segment in Moldova.
This extensive modernization of 230 kilometers of railway involves an investment of €108M and is being supported by both the EIB and the EBRD. Upon completion, these improvements will eliminate restrictions on train weight and speed (increasing speed to 90 kilometers per hour), significantly boosting safety, shortening cargo delivery times, and creating optimal conditions for efficient railway operations. This route is essential for transit logistics in the area, serving as a critical link between the railway networks of Ukraine, Moldova, and the EU.
