The 2023 harvest brought 200% more profit to Ukrainian companies.

According to Agrohub, the actual EBITDA for the main crops in 2023 is $129 per hectare, while the forecasted values at the beginning of the year were not so optimistic – $94 per hectare.

As well, compared to 2022 the companies’ income increased by 200% – when the actual EBITDA was $47 per hectare. Corn’s profitability increased the most – to $38 per hectare based on sales results. Farmers believed it would not provide a profitable EBITDA, with -$47 per hectare forecasted at the beginning of the year. Also, in 2022 corn was Ukraine’s most unprofitable crop.

The study also showed a significant increase in rapeseed income – $228 per hectare (+32% compared to the forecast) and sunflower – $165 per hectare (+33%). The actual results for wheat and soybeans almost matched their forecasts, as the main volume of these crops was sold last year. Wheat became unprofitable (-$101 per hectare), and soybean sales ended with a significant profit (+$378 per hectare).
