Sweden will allow Ukraine to strike Russian territory with the weapons it provides.
“According to international law, Ukraine has the right to defend itself through military actions directed against the invader’s territory if these actions comply with the laws and customs of war. Sweden supports international law and the right of Ukraine to self-defense”, Sweden’s Minister of Defense stated.
Restrictions on Ukraine’s defense should be established by international law, and not by self-imposed restrictions from Ukraine’s allies, which cost Ukrainian’s lives.
At the same time, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni spoke out against the use of Western weapons for strikes inside the Russian Federation and called for “prudence.” This was the Italian politician’s reaction to the NATO Secretary General’s call to lift restrictions on the use of Western weapons.
In turn, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly called on the members of the Alliance to allow Ukraine to strike targets in Russian territory with Western weapons.
