Strengthening EU security and supporting Ukraine without US assistance will require $3T.

According to Bloomberg, protecting Ukraine and expanding their own armed forces could cost Europe’s largest states an additional $3.1T over the next 10 years. Rebuilding the Ukrainian Armed Forces could cost $175B, depending on the military’s state when a ceasefire is reached.
A 40,000-strong peacekeeping force would cost $30B. However, the most significant expense would be strengthening EU members’ militaries, increasing individual defense spending to 3.5% of GDP.
According to The Telegraph, the statements and actions of the Trump administration pose a new challenge to Europe. The US no longer wants to finance Ukraine and the EU’s security, so the region’s future will depend on the willingness of European countries to strengthen their defense capabilities. If Europe, including Britain, does not take this responsibility, Russia could attack Ukraine again in the future and test NATO’s resolve by expanding its influence in Europe.
