Stoltenberg called victory in the war a condition for Ukraine’s accession to NATO.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that an initial condition for consideration of Ukraine’s membership in NATO is its victory over the Russian Federation. He emphasized that to enable Ukraine’s victory, the allies should mobilize as much as possible when it comes to military, economic, financial, and humanitarian support. “If Ukraine does not win as an independent, sovereign state, then, of course, the question of membership will not be on the table because we will no longer have a candidate for membership in the person of Ukraine,” Stoltenberg noted. The secretary general added that now it is crucial to move step by step, and the most important and urgent step is to ensure Ukraine’s victory.
