Starmer presents a plan to deploy over 10,000 Western peacekeepers in Ukraine indefinitely.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, during a virtual meeting of the coalition of the willing, detailed plans for deploying Western peacekeeping forces to Ukraine that would be primarily sourced from the UK and France. It is expected that the final contingent will exceed 10,000 military personnel.
Additionally, about 35 countries have agreed to provide weapons, logistical, and intelligence support to the mission, referred to as a deterrence force.
Starmer added: “It is time to start discussing the mechanism for managing and monitoring a full ceasefire and to agree on serious negotiations aimed not just at a pause, but at achieving lasting peace, backed by strong security mechanisms with the help of our coalition of the willing”.
The British government is prepared to indefinitely commit a military deployment in Ukraine as part of the coalition of the willing.
“This will be a long-term commitment; we are talking about years – however long it takes to maintain the peace agreement and deter Russia,” Starmer emphasizes.
