Since the war began, the Ukrainian government has sold military bonds for almost UAH 500B.
According to the NBU the total amounts attracted are UAH 318.62B, $3.57B, and €1.482B. The state also allocated UAH 318.126B, $4.125B, and €1.049B to repay the debt. It is noted that in May the Ministry of Finance’s borrowing on the domestic debt market exceeded bond payments by UAH 16.427B. In general, during January-May of this year, the corresponding positive balance amounted to UAH 77.458B.
The maximum return on military bonds placed in May was 18.5% per annum in hryvnias, 4.85% per annum in US dollars, and 3.85% in euros.
As before, the largest volume of these securities is concentrated in banks. The second largest in terms of volume is the portfolio of military bonds owned by citizens and businesses of Ukraine. The amount of military bonds owned by non-residents is UAH 9.043B and $22.6M.
