Scholz may face resignation due to the refusal to supply Ukraine with heavy weapons.
Next week, the German opposition may initiate a resolution to send heavy weaponry to Ukraine, threatening Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s position due to his unwillingness to provide Ukraine with heavy weapons, reported Spiegel. The debate over Germany’s contribution to the armament of the Ukrainian army has recently gained momentum, as even representatives of coalition parties are increasingly expressing their dissatisfaction with the Chancellor’s course. CDU parliamentary group leader Johann Wadefull, in charge of foreign and defense policy, tweeted the opposition on Tuesday: “We want to support the federal government in this crisis. However, if Scholz continues to oppose the supply of heavy weapons, the chancellor will have to wait for the CDU faction in the coming week.”
