Russian stocks of combat-ready heavy equipment have decreased by 75% since the beginning of the war.

Covert Cabal and Jompy conducted a total count of heavy equipment that remains at Russian Federation storage bases. As of 2021, the Russians had 22,173 pieces of heavy equipment. As of 2024, 12,504 units remain, of which only 5,651 are in usable condition, a four-fold reduction, and 6,853 units either need repair or are in dire condition.

These calculations do not consider the equipment that could be stored in Russian warehouses, but if those numbers are taken into account, then the total amount of heavy equipment was initially larger. But this means the number of repairable pieces of equipment is much smaller, less than 33% of the remaining usable equipment.

“If the pace of hostilities does not change, then at the current pace of reactivation, the Russians will run out of equipment closer to October 2025,” experts believe.
