Russian occupation forces have slowed their advance in Ukraine but are preparing a new offensive in several directions.

The UK Ministry of Defense noted that the Russian occupation forces’ advance in Ukraine has decelerated since the beginning of 2025. In March, Russian troops captured 143 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, averaging less than five square kilometers gained per day.
“The pace of the Russian advance has decreased monthly since November 2024,” the UK intelligence review states.
Simultaneously, the aggressor forces reduced the intensity of its ground attacks in several directions for most of March. By the end of the month, they began to ramp up again, but this failed to quicken the Russian advance.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military has advanced near Kupyansk and are holding back 64,000 Russian troops in the Kursk direction. The Russians aim to completely displace Ukrainian troops from Kursk by one of the “symbolic dates,” said President Zelenskyy. He emphasized that there is no encirclement of Ukrainian troops in Kursk, and that Ukrainian forces are present in other regions of Russia.
The President’s Office also reported that the enemy is preparing to intensify fighting in several directions and plans to bolster its forces by 150,000 troops this year.
