Russia strikes the center of Sumy, injuring 100 people; Trump is outraged by the intense shelling.

On Monday March 24, while negotiations between Russian and American delegations were ongoing in Riyadh, Russia launched a missile strike on the center of Sumy. A residential area, a school, and a children’s hospital were hit. The number of injured exceeded 70, including 13 children. The attack damaged several high-rise buildings as well as the school. Eight houses were left without gas supply, 18 without hot water and heating, and six without cold water.
US President Donald Trump’s entourage reported that he is growing increasingly angry about missile and drone attacks in Russia’s war against Ukraine, despite promises by both sides to conclude a temporary ceasefire.
“He will be disappointed if they continue to bomb infrastructure and energy facilities,” said one official.
Over the weekend, Trump stated that efforts to prevent the war’s further escalation were “somewhat under control.” However, Moscow has begun carrying out drone strikes, killing civilians across Ukraine.
