Russia conducts up to 90% of its strikes with UAVs, leading Ukraine with plans to purchase every interceptor drone that is produced domestically.

Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk said: “Today, the main challenge is the widespread use of unmanned aerial vehicles. In 2025, up to 90% of strikes are expected to be carried out by UAVs. Therefore, the Ministry of Energy emphasizes the need to install advanced systems to counter drone threats”.
It is noted that since the start of the full-scale invasion, more than 700 enemy attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities have been recorded. Most recently, on the night of July 23 the energy infrastructure of Ukrainian Rilways (UZ) was targeted by enemy strike drones, damaging facilities in the Sumy and Poltava regions. As well, on the night of July 22 Russian troops launched dozens of drones at gas production facilities in Ukraine, resulting in destruction of property and equipment. Due to ongoing Russian drone attacks, Ukraine is actively developing its domestic interceptor drone market.
According to Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine is ready to order every interceptor drone that Ukrainian companies can produce by the end of the year. Four contracts worth over ₴3B ($72M) have already been signed.
