Romania will receive €126M in grant funds to promote Ukrainian exports.
Romania will receive €126M from the EU for investment in ports that have faced increased flows of goods since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This measure should facilitate Ukraine’s trade within the EU’s Solidarity Lanes Action Plan framework.
All logistics companies operating in Romanian ports located on the eastern border of the EU (Constanța, Galaţi, Giurgiu), on the Danube-Black Sea Canal, the Sulin Canal, and in the satellite ports of Constanta, will receive grants of up to €10M.
The funding was provided at Romania’s request, which has informed the EC of its plans to support companies in Romanian ports that plant to invest in additional cargo handling or storage facilities in order to handle cargo from Ukraine.
According to the US State Department, Romania remains the largest alternative export route for Ukrainian grain and other goods.
