Rheinmetall receives an order from Ukraine to construct an ammunition production plant.
The German defense concern Rheinmetall has received an order from the Ukrainian government to construct an ammunition factory, previously announced in February. The exact value of the deal is not specified; Rheinmetall describes the amount as a “low three-digit million euro,” meaning more than €100M.
The implementation of the project will begin in the short term, and production will start within 24 months. The enterprise is anticipated to produce no less than 100,000 155 mm caliber artillery shells per year.
“We are turning our words into reality and will create a Ukrainian ammunition production center with our partner. We are grateful for the opportunity to support the country in its reindustrialization and strengthening of defense capabilities,” Rheinmetall commented.
The necessary infrastructure is currently being prepared in Ukraine.
