Republicans in the US Senate are proposing to create a fund to finance the supply of US weapons to Ukraine with contributions from European countries.

Two senior Republican senators, Roger Wicker and Jim Risch, have presented a detailed plan that would allow European partners to finance the transfer of US weapons and military equipment to Ukraine. The document envisions the establishment of a fund in the US Treasury Department to receive money from European allies.
The US Secretary of Defense would then use this fund to pay contractors to replenish US arsenals, enabling the Pentagon to continue supplying weapons to Ukraine without jeopardizing US military readiness. The US plan aims to establish a stable funding source of about $5-8B annually, with German and Britain among the likely donors. Wicker discussed the proposal with the White House, which had a generally positive reaction. The plan is expected to be adopted later this year as part of the annual defense policy bill.
Additionally, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal reported that the Czech Republic is preparing new assistance packages for Ukraine’s Armed Forces for 2025-2026, focusing on air defense, electronic warfare, and “long-range capabilities.”
