Putin’s war catastrophe: Ukraine controls twice as many settlements in the Kursk region as Putin was told.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine’s area of operation in Kursk Oblast covers the territories from which Moscow attacked Sumy Oblast. Therefore, the current operation is purely a security issue for Ukraine, bringing about the liberation of the border from the Russian military, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
He drew parallels between the death of the Kursk submarine at the beginning of Putin’s rule and the current situation. “24 years ago, the Kursk disaster was the symbolic beginning of his reign; now, it is the end for him,” Zelenskyy said.
In addition, President Zelenskyy said Ukraine occupies 74 settlements as of August 13.
At the same time, the head of the Kursk region reported to Putin that the Ukrainian army managed to take control of 28 settlements and 480 square kilometers of territory, while according to the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of August 12, the Ukrainian defense forces controlled about 1,000 square kilometers.
