“Putin won the war”: Analysts comment on Trump’s call to Putin.

Professor of international politics Carlo Masala believes that the telephone conversation between the presidents of the US and Russia actually means Putin’s victory.
“This is an apocalyptic scenario. Negotiations are being conducted over the heads of Ukrainians and Europeans,” he says.
The professor reacted to the fact that the conversation between Trump and Putin took place after the Pentagon chief’s statements that Europe should be responsible for Ukraine’s security.
“This is the best thing that could have happened to Putin. European security forces will not stop him from committing another attack on the rest of Ukraine in a few years. Therefore, Putin won this war. He achieved the American withdrawal from this conflict,” Masala explained.
According to him, in order not to appear defeated, Trump will demand the return of a portion of Ukraine’s occupied territories. Many politicians in Europe and the US believe that without Ukraine and Europe, peace talks are impossible, and the sharpest critics warn that such verbal concessions before the start of negotiations mean a betrayal of Ukraine and the West’s interests.
