Production of German Vector drones has been launched in Ukraine.
German UAV manufacturer Quantum-Systems launched a factory that will produce Vector unmanned systems for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the spring. Currently, the drones are assembled from components coming from Germany, but the company is gradually localizing production, making the wings and antennas in Ukraine.
The plant is also working on improving the UAV’s navigation technologies. Instead of relying on a vulnerable satellite network in wartime, the company is developing an AI-based optical navigation system that will allow drones to navigate and recognize objects even in poor visibility. Ukraine’s Armed Forces began receiving these drones from Germany in 2022.
It is expected that by the end of 2024 the plant will deliver another 500 of the drones. In addition, Quantum-Systems has already opened a service and logistics center in Ukraine, as well as a research and development center.
