Polish logistics companies are losing millions due to the halt in Ukrainian grain transit.

Laura Gołowacz, president of the Polish CSL logistics group, reported that Polish ports and terminals face significant losses because the transshipment of Ukrainian grain has come to a nearly complete stop.

Warehouses in Gdansk, Gdynia, and Szczecin remain idle, while Romania, Germany, and Turkey are actively handling Ukrainian cargo, though often preventing Ukrainian products from entering their own markets. Gołowacz emphasized that transit is a legal and fully controlled process: Wagons containing grain go to ports, are reloaded onto ships, and then depart immediately for their destination.

However, political protests and administrative delays at the border cause trucks and wagons to be stuck for days. “We lose money on railway tariffs, port dues, and forwarding services, while others earn money,” the CSL head stated.

The blockage of grain transit also impacts the domestic labor market, as empty terminals threaten staff layoffs and transport companies risk bankruptcy. Logistics professionals urge the government to review procedures and restore throughput so Poland can avoid revenue losses and falling behind their competitors.
