Polish farmers want to scale up protests at the border, and the Polish government is trying to prevent a blockade.
Polish farmers will resume the blockade of the Shegini-Medyka border crossing if they do not receive written confirmation that their demands will be met, protest organizer Roman Kondrow said. Farmers are demanding a subsidy for the purchase of corn and that the agricultural tax remains unchanged.
Kondrow has already spoken with the police and the crisis team – everything is ready to resume the blockade. This time, the protest will take a stricter form: protesters will let one truck pass for an hour. However, trucks carrying military and humanitarian aid and perishable products will pass without waiting in the queue.
At the same time, as Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Poland, Michal Kolodziejczak, noted, the ministry agrees to fulfill all the demands of the farmers who blocked the Polish-Ukrainian border and hopes they will not renew their protest.
