Poland is deeply disappointed with the 10th package of sanctions.
According to the Polish ambassador to the EU, Andrzej Sados, the decision falls below expectations. For example, the draft document has no sanctions for the forced adoption of Ukrainian children. Also, the package does not have Poland’s proposals to exclude Gazprom from reducing emissions in the extractive industry, which involves trading certificates for emissions during the extraction of hydrocarbons. Currently, sanctions do not prohibit the sale of quotas to enterprises with Russian capital, where Poland has demanded the introduction of such a restriction. Instead, the EU proposed new sanctions against four Russian banks, a ban on the import of rubber, and additional restrictions on exporting electronic components that can be used to produce weapons. The new trade bans will cost Russia €10B, but according to a diplomat, this is calculated in 2021 prices, so it is greatly inflated.
