News from Ukraine’s gas production sector.
The Association of Gas Extracting Companies of Ukraine reports that in 2024, total gross natural gas production in Ukraine amounted to 19.12 billion cubic meters (+2.3% compared to 2023). The companies of state-owned Naftogaz Group are the leaders in increased gas production, accounting for almost 82% of the total gas production volume. However, in August-December, the average daily output from private companies increased by 25%.
Last year, companies began drilling more than 140 wells, which is equal to the record-setting indicators of 2023. More than 360 wells have been drilled since the beginning of the full-scale war. The sector’s baseline forecast and positive dynamics indicate that Ukraine’s gas production should continue to grow in 2025.
But there are some negative factors. These include a significant tariff increase for the GTS Operator of Ukraine for gas transportation services for entry and exit points for the next five years. The regulator’s decision will reduce investment opportunities for producers, particularly in new drilling.
