New US $2.1B military aid package includes new hybrid rockets.
The US is sending Ukraine a new $2.1B weapons package, according to Defense Press Secretary Patrick S. Ryder, including a new ground-launched, bomb-tipped missile. The latest aid includes $425M in equipment drawn from existing US stockpiles and $1.75B in contracts with the defense industry. The new rocket from Boeing Co. combines two proven devices: an Air Force Small-Diameter Bomb guided by GPS satellites that is currently in wide use and additional supplies of a rocket that is already being utilized by Ukraine’s forces. The package also contains mortar ammunition, 181 mine-protected armored personnel carriers, equipment for the Ukrainian air defense system, mobile HAWK interceptor missiles, 20 anti-mortar radar stations (RADS), four air surveillance radars, anti-drone systems, spare parts for anti-artillery radars, and medical supplies.
