NATO will work on a strategic multi-year program for Ukraine.
Most importantly, it will help the country on its way to membership in the organization, said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg after a two-day meeting of foreign ministers from the Alliance’s member countries in Brussels.
According to him, NATO’s position is that Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance, and this position has not changed. At the same time, two problems need to be solved to accomplish this goal.
First, it is necessary to guarantee that Ukraine will stand as a sovereign independent state. For this, it is essential to provide military support to Ukraine so that President Putin does not win his war of aggression.
The second task is to guarantee the highest level of interoperability, proof that Ukraine can move away from Soviet-era standards and doctrines in its armed forces.
