The North Atlantic Alliance will help Ukraine with weapons “as much as necessary,” given the importance of this war for the democratic world, said NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg. “We have to do this because we see that Russia is still trying to resolve the situation by military means. It is good that negotiations are underway, but we have not seen a real change in Russia’s main goal – the military solution,” he added. The Secretary-General avoided answering a direct question from a Ukrainian correspondent about whether NATO was considering providing Ukraine with offensive weapons in view of the turn of the war’s momentum raising the possibility of increased Ukrainian counter-offensive actions.
