NATO has voiced its position on key aspects of ending the Russian-Ukrainian war.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that NATO is not engaged in the negotiations to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.
“They are being led by the US along with Ukraine and Russia. We understand that they are progressing slowly, but that is not due to Ukraine; rather, it is because of Russia. The ball is clearly in Russia’s court now,” he remarked.
The Secretary General emphasized that the Alliance desires “Ukraine to be a proud sovereign state that is making strides forward,” so the peace must be lasting and equitable. “The head of the Kremlin, Putin, should never attempt this again,” Rutte added.
On the prospects for a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine following an agreement or ceasefire, the Secretary General pointed out that NATO’s direct involvement is unlikely. However, individual allies can engage on a bilateral basis, and such options are already under discussion.
“France and the UK are in conversation within the so-called coalition of the willing. We must keep all these proposals on the table to be prepared when a genuine opportunity for peace arises,” he continued.
